High deforestation.

Dull with occasional sun.

Almost all of the leaves on the Devils-bit Scabious leaves have these purple dots on them. It's a fungal rust - Ramularia succisae.

This large Robber Fly was nectaring on Angelica. It looks like they supplement their usual carnivorous diet with nectar. Very versatile.

A couple of pictures showing the wild variation in shape of the Icheumons.

This species of hoverfly puzzles me. Syritta pipiens has very swollen rear thighs. This might be mimicry, but it neither behaves like nor looks like any of the small solitary bees. Less than 1 cm. long.
