Edge of high heath.

I'm spending as much time with the Angelica as I can. It is running to seed very quickly this year.

Early sun, then dull.

Two shots of Eristalis intricarius - a hoverfly that mimics bumblebees. I find these are very easy to separate from bumblebees simply by their behaviour when landed. Bumblebees are frantic in their busy attempts to gather pollen, whilst the hoverfly is content to eat lazily.

An interesting little Sawfly. The blue/black colouration caught my eye.

I thought that taking pictures of the flowers of Fairy Flax was difficult. The tiny (2 to 3 mm.) seedheads are even trickier.

The spiders are clearly aware that Angelica seedheads are a good source of insects.
