Drumboe Wood.

Sunny periods with heavy showers from time to time.

I'm often asked for scene-setting shots, so this is the riverside walk facing South West. The river Finn is just to the left.

I was specifically looking for this fungus. It only grows on fallen Holly leaves. The cap is about 2 mm. across and the hairs on the cap are just visible. Maramius hudsonii.

While I was down hunting for the Marasmius, I also spotted this tiny fungus on a Beech leaf. The left image gives some idea of scale, and the close-up shows how perfectly it is formed, although it is only 4mm. tall and 1mm. across the cap. Hemimycena sp.

And then I spotted this UGO - Unidentified Grey Object. It's about 1 cm tall. Suggestions on the Feedback form, please.

A browse of the web has come up with a very tentative Pseudohydnum gelatinosum. Now confirmed - see 6th November.

A couple of insects taking advantage of the unseasonally warm weather. A female Melanostoma hoverfly and one of the Blowflies.

And this very unseasonal leaf-bud on the Lime caught my eye.
