More from Drumboe Wood.

Bright but sub-zero all day in the shade.

First real frost last night, and at mid-day, the hoar was still present on leaves. This is on Creeping Buttercup.

And then I stumbled across this Hazel sapling with new male catkins and many buds showing. This year's leaves are still on the tree.

The Honeysuckle has also started to shoot again.

A large bank was covered with this Cladonia fimbriata. Notice the dead grass stem in the centre of the picture.

The grass stem is clearly a substrate for the next generation of lichens. The pink coloured dots in the centre of the image are tiny discomycete fungi. Grass stem about 3 mm diameter.
