Fog and sub-zero all day. |
Ivy is a bit unusual in that it flowers much later in the year. That makes it a valuable nectar resource for many late insects. The development of the flowers from bud through to fruit takes weeks and it's worth documenting the whole cycle. |
The buds (left) split to reveal the yellow-green flowers.

Fertilised flowers remain yellow then turn a rusty brown. The sepals fall off at around the same time.
Note that the flowers have a 5-fold structure. This can be seen clearly in the ripe fruit. |
