Frequent heavy showers.

 

This is a fine example of Xanthoria parietina - one of the most common lichens in the area. It appears to be equally happy on wood or stone.

I got a new digital microscope the other day. Hopefully this means a new dimension to the website.

These are spores of a Cortinarius at x 400.
