More images from Drumboe woods.

 

Rain for much of the day, including the latter part of my visit.

 

Another micromoth mine on Beech - Stigmella tityrella.

The remains of a bird were laid out on a tree-stump. I think that pink colour is distinctive enough to call it a cock Bullfinch.

 

Whilst I was examining this young Oak for leaf mines I spotted these blowflies clustered on the trunk. They appear to be very regularly spaced out. Sunbathing?

 

These moss capsules were growing horizontally out from the soil bank. Manual focus on this shot.

 

There are a few non-native Oaks in various places in Drumboe. I wonder if this is one of the American 'red' oaks. Centre leaf about 15 cm. long.
