Rained off, so I spent a little time trying to photograph 'rain'.

Wet and windy.

Rain is a very difficult subject to photograph. The exposure needs to be long enough to capture movement, but the aperture needs to be reduced as far as possible in order to avoid over-exposure.

I stuck the camera on exposure priority and reduced the aperture to minimum (f8 on this camera). I then focussed on the darker bit of the hedge in order to get a background for the rain track. After a few different exposures, I managed this shot at 1/100th of a second. Streaks of rain can be seen just off the vertical. I suppose I could have changed the asa setting to 100 instead of my standard 400. That would have slowed the camera a bit more.
