Local farmland on an archaeological trip. 1 x Green-veined White. Sunny and hot. |
The first Bog Violets of the year. They were only 2m from Dog Violets, which were growing in the grass, but in the slightly drier margin of the field. |
A couple of Frogs. On the left, fully grown and a 2-year-old on the right.
|
And a Frog tadpole growing in a tiny puddle in a stony outcrop which bears Neolithic carvings. |
I've seen this tiny red moss in a couple of places, but no id as yet. |
This ancient Hawthorn is broken wide open, but it is still producing new leaves. |
I've been looking for archegonia - the female reproductive part of this Polytrichum moss. I think this might be it. |
