12th May |
High Heath.
Hot and sunny. |
I noticed that some Willow leaves had been spun together and I gently pulled them apart. This Anthocorus nemorum was in residence, but I'm not sure if it made the spinning or if it ate the former inhabitant(s).
|
Many of the Willow leaves show beetle damage already, and I spotted this Bronzy Willow Leaf Beetle - Phratora vitellinae - hiding in the leaf rosette. |
Many red ants were scurrying over the same leaves. I wonder if they have a relationship with the beetles. |
The Marsh Ragwort flowers were growing on an old stem. It's too early for flowers on this year's growth. |
And then on returning home: a freshly-emerged Angle Shades moth - Phlogophera meticulosa. |
