3rd July |
Original Hedgerow, leg 2.
Overcast and humid, with some sunny intervals. |
I've been checking this Broom for numerous insects that feed on it. Nothing, yet. |
One of the more distinctive colour forms of the Frog-hopper - Philaneus spumarius. |
A more local specimen of Clouded Border - Lomaspilis marginata. |
Two side-shots of butterflies. Meadow Brown (left) and the first Ringlet of the year- Aphantopus hyperantus.
|
Male (left) and female (right) Large Red Damselflies were chasing over the hedgerow plants.
And a close-up of the head of the male:
|
Two micromoths, 1 new and 1 new as an adult. On the left is Chrysoteuchia culmella - Garden Grass-veneer, and on the right is Timothy Tortrix - Aphelia paleana. I showed the larva of Timothy Tortrix on 10th June.
|
Two colour varieties of Volucella bombylans, the bumblebee-mimicking hoverfly.
|
And a scarce shot of the Honey Bee - Apion sp. |
