8th October |
Beltany Circle, on the conference excursion.
Scattered showers. |
Kevin Barton and Mary Harte explaining the geophysics and role of the Beltany Stone Circle. |
Meanwhile.... The stones are always good for lichens, and this north-facing surface had this excellent specimen of Marchandiomyces, a fungus which is parasitic on Parmelia.
Area in second image about 1 cm.across. |
And a new (to me) fungal rust on Groundsel on the approach path. Puccinia lagenophorae.
