Original Hedgerow, leg 1.

Dry but dull.

A few flowers are making a second push, often in places that were cut back earlier in the year. This is Cow Parsley.

A specimen of Coprinus atramentarius just emerging.

The very wide dark stripe in the pale frons, coupled with the dark patches on the wing lead me to Eristalix tenax for this late hoverfly.

The Miller has been quite prominent this year in places that I haven't seen it before.

A myxomycete that is quite common at the moment.

One of the little Sepsid flies. The wings are never still, flashing out endless semaphore messages.

A late specimen of Smooth Sow Thistle.
