Original Hedgerow, leg 2.

Continuous heavy rain.

It was raining heavily while I took all these shots, so the light is very bad. This is the largest of the Nematus pavidus larvae so far (about 18mm. long). Many of the leaves now have only a few larvae, as they distribute themselves over the bush.

But some leaves have larvae at all stages of development.

A nice shot showing top and side.

Everything is drenched with this rain, which is courtesy of the tail end of Hurricane Gordon. The wind is strangely warm, though.

A fine batch of 15 cm. diameter Horse Mushrooms.

Many of the Meadowsweet plants are covered in these leaf galls. Dasineura ulmariae.
