Original Hedgerow, leg1.

Dull with showers.

I managed to find the elusive plant from 28th at the third attempt. It looks like a moss from distance, but it turns out to be another liverwort: Plagiochila porelloides. The individual 'leaves' shown are about 2-3 mm long.

Although the leaf edges look smooth, they are actually toothed. Teeth are about 30 microns long. The leaf cells are virtually spherical.

The dark sphere is a reproductive organ, but I'm not yet sure which.

This (slightly dry) sample shows how moss-like the overall appearance is. Sample size about 5 cm. across.
