Coniferous forestry at Beltany
Circle.
Dull and cold. |
The inside of a Spruce plantation. Notice anything? It's virtually sterile. We simply don't have the native fauna to take advantage of imported species. The interior of these plantations is like a vast desert. As an aside, the above shot was taken at 100th second (my choice, as an experiment) and the original was totally black. With photoshop I was able to recover the detail you see. There might be some infrared influence, here. Here's a thumbnail of the original: You can just make out the two dots of light. |
I came across this very dried specimen of Tricholomopsis rutilans - 'Rhubarb and Custard'. I had to stare at it for several seconds before it spoke to me.
Shots taken with flash. Obviously. |
At the slightly lighted fringe of the plantation I found a clump of Mnium hornum - our most common woodland floor moss. |
