Today I went to a very large Hazel grove near the river Deele. I'm glad I went.

       On the left, the male Hazel catkin, and the absolutely tiny female flower on the right. The fruit behind the female flower is not much bigger than a grain of rice.

   

There were plenty of lichens on the Hazel branches:

The image on the left shows a sample of Thuidium tamaricinum (moss) about 10 cm across.
