Annexe, today - in a minor bog. More Lichens and some Mosses.

 

Many Lichens grow on trees, some on moss and others on rocks. This is just a selection of today's finds:

Hypogymnia spp.

Ramalina farinacea

   This Cladonia portentosa growing on moss is the largest single specimen I've seen so far. It is around 25 cm across:

 

 

This photo of a small Spruce shows how densely lichens can grow in the right environment. I've counted at least 30 specimens in the photograph.

 

Here's a real close-up of some Sphagnum Moss. The red colouration covers large areas.
