High deforested area..

Cloudy with frequent showers.

Another new micromoth on heather? Nope, this is a macromoth which is smaller than many micros: the division is completely arbitrary. Marsh Oblique-barred - Hypenodes humidalis.

"It starts". The first of my autumn fungi: Hebeloma mesophaeum.

This is the stigma of the flower of Jointed Rush. It's one of the most attractive parts of any flower I've seen. Direct from the sensor.

Staying with rushes, these are the flowers of the Toad Rush - a very difficult plant to photograph. Manual focus.

It's the time of year when Catsear gives way to Autumn Hawkbit. This specimen was in the green strip in the middle of the path.

Great beauty can exist in the most unlikely places. These are the flowers of Ling, or Purple Heather.

Square-stalked St. Johns Wort is later this year, but I suppose most of the summer flowers have been held back by lower temperatures.

If I ever get round to studying Ichneumonids properly I should have a good collection of images.
