I always open a few seedheads of Knapweed to see what's living inside them. These are the larvae of a Tephritid fly, about 3mm long. |
But I also found this exotic beetle larva, about 10mm long. A few Weevils eat Knapweed seedheads, but it might also be a predator on the fly larvae. You can just make out the jointed pro-legs, which identify it as a beetle larva.
