Deciduous fringe of coniferous forestry.

Heavy rain showers.

This bit of woodland looks to be mixed deciduous & coniferous, but there are acres of Spruce to the left and right of the image. I quite often come across mixed groups of sheep and goats in this area, but the consistent blue dye on this group tells me that these ones are a recent escape from some field.

And, of course, where we find sheep we'll find dung and where we find dung we'll find Lesser Dung flies laying eggs.

There's a sudden flush of late Meadowsweet on various verges and pathsides.

Crepidotus sp. is very common on dead branches at the moment. Larger specimen about 15mm across.

Bolbitius vitellinus, or whatever it's being called nowadays.

Collybia dryophila has a very sweet smell.

A very tiny (4mm cap) Mycena on wood covered with the moss Pleurozium schreberi.

Another Mycena sp, this time on bark.

Usnea sp. lichen on a moss-covered Hawthorn over a stream.

The impossible-to-photograph Toad Rush.
