High Heath.

Showers and very dull.

Seeds of Angelica are a sure sign that autumn is here.

A rather late Bombus lucorum/ Bombus cryptarum.

Common Sorrel, as a habit shot.

Another Syrphus ribesii larva on the prowl for aphids.

The seedheads of Bog Asphodel add brightness to the otherwise dull bog.

A quick detour to the Hedgerow, leg 2 got me these shots of what I am now convinced is an ectoparasitic Ichneumonid laying eggs on the outside of Nematus pavidus larvae.

Later, back at the house.

A recently-hatched specimen of the Angle Shades moth : Phlogophera meticulosa. Why recently-hatched? The colours are still very bright, with olives and pinks evident. The left wing appears to be still inflating, too.

This is a slightly odd micromoth, or rather an interesting micromoth in a rather wrong habitat. This is Eudonis angustea. The larvae are moss-eaters, which is fine, but the species is said to be coastal.
