Tomorrow I'm going to a fungal foray at Glenveigh National park with the NIFG.

Since I didn't get a page up today, here are two pictures from tomorrow to set the scene.

Heavy rain all day.

Once upon a time there were three mushrooms...

Amanita muscaria - the Fly Agaric. Largest specimen about 20 cm. across. Under Birch.

This Cladonia forms its fruiting cups inside the previous year's fruiting cups, so we get this beautiful tiered effect. Largest cup (centre left) is about 5mm. across.

Cladonia cervicornia ssp. verticillata.
