Original Hedgerow.

 

I added Male Fern and replaced Common Polypody on Thursday's spore page.

 

Dull and wet with one or two bright spells.

 

There's just a hint of autumn in this picture...leaves are beginning to fall, and the flowers are all gone.

Notice that broken branch dangling at the left hand side of the picture....

This is the 'yellow brain fungus' - Tremella mesenterica. It lives on another fungus - Peniophora incarnata - which is in turn living off the decaying Gorse.

   

We had very high winds over the weekend. One of the higher branches from an Ash tree had fallen and was lodged in some lower branches. The following pictures show the density and variety of lichens on the branch.
