Drumboe Wood.
This page sets the scene for the next few weeks: We are in fungus season.
Dull and wet. |
A nice little cluster of Lycopodium perlatum. These 'puffballs' develop a little hole at the top and spores puff out when the fungus is touched.
|
And now the 'Earthballs' that I've been showing for some time. Now they are beginning to crack and break down. Scleroderma citrinum. |
And two shots of a very pale (and rare) Bolete - Leccinum helopus. This is again far distant from any previous record.
|
To finish, a picture of a very large (15 cm.) Bolete - Boletus luridiformis - that goes dark blue the instant the flesh is exposed. |
