Drumboe Wood.

This page sets the scene for the next few weeks: We are in fungus season.

Dull and wet.

A nice little cluster of Lycopodium perlatum. These 'puffballs' develop a little hole at the top and spores puff out when the fungus is touched.

And now the 'Earthballs' that I've been showing for some time. Now they are beginning to crack and break down.

Scleroderma citrinum.

And two shots of a very pale (and rare) Bolete - Leccinum helopus. This is again far distant from any previous record.

To finish, a picture of a very large (15 cm.) Bolete - Boletus luridiformis - that goes dark blue the instant the flesh is exposed.
