Drumboe Woods.

Dry and bright, with occasional showers.

One or two Hogweed plants have decided to flower again, so I thought I'd photograph one. But when I got closer I was astonished to find it was covered in hoverflies. I had assumed they were finished for the year. Do they normally nectar on something else at this time of year?

This Leucozona glaucia hoverfly was very much in evidence, along with various Eristalis and one or two Ichneumons.

Yet another Ichneumon. This one was slowly searching over the Oak leaf.

This tiny (5mm.) fly - one of the Sepsidae - was wandering over the Oak leaf with a number of others. There was much wing-waving at each other. Those dots on the wing-tips are probably used for signalling.

This Woodpigeon was feasting on the Elder berries. It was so busy gorging itself that it let me get quite close.
