I went up to the local mixed forestry specifically for images of Exidia
recisa - a fungus that appears on Willow at this time of year.
Sleet, hail and torrential rain in waves. |
Exidia recisa is a brown gelatinous fungus that usually looks something like the picture on the right. |
But at this time of year - in a few locations - it inflates with water. |
It can be seen wobbling in the breeze and glinting in reflected and refracted light, like jewels glittering under the Willow branches. |
I've tried to give an impression of how these beautiful fungi appear to the eye. Wonderful.
