8th January

I went up to the local mixed forestry specifically for images of Exidia recisa - a fungus that appears on Willow at this time of year.

Sleet, hail and torrential rain in waves.

Exidia recisa is a brown gelatinous fungus that usually looks something like the picture on the right.

But at this time of year - in a few locations - it inflates with water.

It can be seen wobbling in the breeze and glinting in reflected and refracted light, like jewels glittering under the Willow branches.

I've tried to give an impression of how these beautiful fungi appear to the eye. Wonderful.
