18th January

Town centre garden.

Dull, wet and windy.

The Common Field Speedwell - Veronica persica - is a long-term flowering species with long creeping habit. This specimen had clearly been in flower for a while, since it has mature seeds. It's the only Speedwell in flower at the moment, but I'm expecting Germander Speedwell quite soon.

The seeds are produced in pairs within large bracts.
