High heath, late on.

1 x Green-veined White.

Misty early, sunny later.

This larva of the Drinker Moth - Euthrix potatoria - was crossing the path, presumably moving from one dry stem of grass to another.

After showing a lone cock Chaffinch yesterday, this hen was chirping a solo less than half a kilometer away. A missed opportunity, I think.

Mitrula paludosa, or Bog Beacon, is a very interesting little fungus that grows on floating vegetation. Its spores are very long and thin. I suppose that's to increase the chances of hitting vegetation before water.

You have no idea of the position I had to get into in order to take this photograph.

These are this season's female flowers of the Scots Pine.
