Silverweed - Potentilla anserina - opened today. I'd normally expect 5 petals; this one has 6. |
This Marsh Horsetail - Equisetum palustre - grows alongside the path as well as in the green strip in the middle. |
That's two of our local orchids in flower, and two marsh plants in the forestry. Maybe this was a bog before it was planted. Northern Marsh Orchid - Dactyorhiza purpurella. |
This ground beetle - Carabus granulatus - is a very fast runner. I wasn't panning quite fast enough to completely arrest its movement. If you squint at the head-end of the thorax, you can see that it's carrying two passengers - mites of some kind. |
