Going up Djouce the hard way

The first time I went hill-walking in Wicklow, I saw Djouce rising majestically in the distance. My companion set this as a target for me to achieve, as my fitness and confidence increased.

This approach to Djouce was from the Crone Wood direction. It consisted of a rather long slow climb up a rough path, which led around the side of the hill, through some heather, following the Wicklow Way markers, across White Hill and down to Luggala car park.

Some energetic people were going to the peak up a very steep path, but I gave it a miss. Since most of this walk is uphill, over a gradual slope which is very tiring, with very little level travel, it is not my preferred route on this favourite mountain.
