NAVAL SERVICE v CARDIFF POLICE

On Friday last the 31 March the NS RFC played host to the Cardiff Police. The game was played at the Paddocks home of Cobh Pirates RFC who kindly offered the use of their ground for the occasion. In conditions that were perfect for running rugby the Naval Service ran out easy winners by 43-07.

The Cardiff Police were suffering the obvious effects of the social side of their tour and the fast pace of the game combined with the warm weather did not suit their physical condition. The Naval Service ran in some impressive tries. Their total domination up front provided the backs with plenty of possession and room to run. The tries were scored by Eamon Kinehan (2), Brian O'Leary(2), Ollie O'Mahoney, Martin Buckley and Ray Malanaphy. At the after match dinner the Cardiff Police gave Eamon Kinehan the Man of the Match Award. He put in an impressive display on the right wing scoring two spectacular tries.

Moment of the match came when wing forward John Hayes decided to take over the kicking duties and came up short with a conversion attempt from in front of the posts.

This impressive victory continues the teams unbeaten run which now extends over two years.
