Membership is Open to All Persons
Membership of the Irish Astronomical Society is open to people of all ages and experience. The only prerequisite is an interest in Astronomy.
If you join now your annual sub. is good until 1st August 2010.

Look at the Benefits:

  • The Magazine -- Orbit is posted (free) to all IAS members six times a year to keep them informed on current astronomical news and events. Now in colour.
  • The Annual -- our annual Sky-High is posted (free) to all IAS members to keep them informed on the naked-eye and binocular sky. Now in colour.

  • The Talks -- From September to May meetings (free for members) are held monthly. These are designed to give members an enjoyable evening with lectures by professional astronomers or experienced amateurs.

  • The Astronomical Library -- Members can borrow (free) from a range of astronomical books and magazines. There is also a Video Library.

  • Astronomical Viewing Nights -- IAS members can attend any of the Society's viewing nights free of charge. Viewing nights exclusively for members are IAS held each month at both our site in the Dublin Mountains and at Dunsink Observatory.

  • Alerts There are (free) Electronic Notices of Observing Sessions and Sky Events.
  • Special Interest Groups -- IAS members can join in the activities of a number of special interest groups run by the Society. As well as the (general) Observers Group there is a Variable Stars Observers Group
  • Amateur Telescope Making -- build your own telescope! These sessions are conducted if there is sufficient interest at the time.

  • Beginners Classes -- get started off in the basics of Astronomy. These sessions are conducted if there is sufficient interest at the time.

  • Share the Experience -- share your interest and experience with other like-minded people. There is no better way to enjoy the wonderful science of Astronomy. Join us now!


How to Join

Anyone interested in joining the Society needs to submit a completed membership application form.

The Membership Application Form details the membership costs. You may print it out and post it with your subscription, to the Secretary, to the address at the bottom of the form.
