Spring, Summer, Autumn Programme 2003

Hi 'Friends' !! Here is the Programme for 2003 - HAPPY GALLOPING!!

We are pleased to outline our plans for the coming season, and extend a warm welcome to our numerous new members.   We look forward to seeing you at some of the activities during the coming seasons.

Sat Apr 12th at 2pm – Showjumping and Dressage Training commences at Claire & Peter Byrne’s, near the Forge in Ballindaggin.   Followed by 18th, 25th and 2nd May at 5.30pm.   Booking with Kathleen Denby 054-66565 before 10th April.  These lessons are suitable for juniors and beginners.

HUNTER TRIALS:
13th April - Island Hunt Hunter Trials at Glandoran.  Contact Mr George Chapman at 055-22139.
17th April - Wexford Pony Club Hunter Trials at Cushinstown – Contact Jacinta Reville at 051-428326.
19th April – Island Pony Club Hunter Trials at Glandoran, commencing 10.30am.
Senior Singles, Teams of Three, Senior Pairs, Intermediate Pairs, Intermediate Singles, Junior Pairs and Junior Singes, Under 12’s Pairs and Singles. Our men have spent many hours organising the course and making it safe for our members.  We must please ask parents to help on the day.  If you can mark a fence, collect number bibs, help with the food or anything that will contribute to the smooth running of this hunter trials, it will be appreciated.  We ask parents to bring sandwiches to help feed the fence stewards, as it is a long day.  These can be left at the Secretary’s office.
21st April – Shillelagh Pony Club Hunter Trials at Coolboy.   Contact Pat Tomkins at 055-26287.
26th April – Irish Pony Club Hunter Trials Championships at Rosmeade, Clonmellon,Co. Westmeath .  All details enclosed.

Members hoping to be selected to represent our club at the Championships must attend at least three Hunter Trials.    Members interested must contact Kathleen Denby at 054-66565 immediately.

Please note back protector and hat to standard PAS015 or ASTMF 1163 must be worn for all Pony Club competitions.   It is now compulsory to wear a medical armband, complete with PHOTO ID for all Hunter Trials.    No horse or pony under 4 years of age can compete.   All tack should be checked now, to ensure it is in a safe condition and will pass at tack inspection.  

Members with long hair must wear hair- nets to allow fence stewards see their number clearly at Hunter Trials.   Jodhpurs worn to be cream or white.  Stock and Club sweatshirt must be worn.

Please read carefully the new tack sheet that has been sent to each member.

A yellow card can be issued by the Chief steward at Area qualifiers and Championships for the following:-
1. Rudeness.
2. Bad language or bad behaviour.
3. Any mistreatment of pony/horse.
4. Unexplained lateness reporting to start of competition.
Three yellow cards will incur suspension from competition at Area qualifiers and Championships, and will be cumulative throughout the season for all disciplines.

27th April at 2pm – Ride-Out at  Bert Allens, Oldbawn, Newtown.  This is a fun day for all standards.

9th, 16th and 30th May at 5.30pm – Showjumping Training at Mr Herbert Rothwells, Ballybeg.   This is for the Robbie Bailey, Intermediate and Senior Showjumping Championships.   Those wishing to be considered for the championships must attend this training.  Trainer  - Mr Jim Donohoe. Contact Mr Martin Ryan 054-83160 or Mr John Sinnott at 054-55396.   Further training will be organised for June and July with the organisers.   We are considering running a league for all standards, depending on the level of interest.

31st May – Carlow Pony Club Hunter Trials at Newtownbarry House, Bunclody.   A gate and slip rail will be included on the course.   Those interested in Tetrathlon should attend.

15th June – North Kilkenny Pony Club  Novice One Day Event at Feshford, Co Kilkenny.   Entries to Mrs Gerd Liekens at 056-64240.

21st June - Minimus/Tetrathlon – National Minimus Championships will be hosted by Killinick Pony Club.

Island PC - swimming commences on Tuesday 15th April at 6.45 at Enniscorthy pool. contact  Mr John Martin at 054-83010 or Mrs Deirdre French at 054-83153 immediately.

Camp:   Camp takes place from  28th June to 2nd July at Mr Herbert Rothwells, Ballybeg.   Entry forms enclosed.   Help will be needed as usual to help with the running of this.   If parents could help put up jumps etc on 27th please.   Caterers are required to feed instructors for the week.

Games:  29th June at Enniscorthy Showgrounds.   Senior and Junior competitions.  For training contact Mrs Norah Harpur at 054-35065 or Mr Kenneth Leech at 054-35635.

One-Day Event Qualifiers:   Island PC One-Day Event at Glandoran on 6th July.   See enclosed list for One-Day Events and Championships dates and venues.   All entries must be through your District Commissioner one week before the date of event. Help is required on Saturday 14th June to prepare the course at Glandoran.   Fences need painting and repair. Please be at Glandoran to 10.30am. with tools and equipment.

Combined Training Qualifier:   Hosted by Killinick Pony Club at Killag on 11th July.

Senior, Intermediate and Robbie Bailey Showjumping:   This is being hosted by the Warrington branch, date to be decided.

Junior Activities:   Contact Mrs Deirdre Bowler(054-34634), Mrs Christian O’Morchoe ((0404-37900) or Mrs Kay Bowe (054-55406).

Junior One-Day Event:     Island PC Jnr One-Day Event on Sunday August 17th at Glandoran.   See enclosed leaflet for other Junior One-Day Events.

Dressage:  Lessons will recommence before camp for members who wish to take part in Area Qualifier and Championships.   Date to be decided.

Rallies:    Commencing 6th September at Clonee, Camolin.

Shop:     We hope to have a shop at camp, selling good second-hand riding gear.   Members with any items for sale may avail of this.

Subscriptions:   If you have not already paid your subscription for 2003, our Hon. Secretary would be grateful if you would do so, as you cannot take part in any pony club activity unless this has been paid.
