Year 2003 Calendar of Events




9 September 2003 : "Remember Mitchelstown" Commemoration
On Tuesday 9th September the Band will hold a short Commemorative Service in New Square to mark the anniversary of the shootings in 1887 when 3 men lost their lives.


5 July 2003 : South of Ireland Band Championships
Saturday 5th July sees the Band travelling to Clonakilty to compete in The South of Ireland Band Championships. We have competed at this event for almost 25 Years and is still the most important date in our annual diary.


6 June 2003 : O'Neill Crowley Terrace
The Band will join the residents of O'Neill Crowley Terrace in celebrating the anniversary of the Estate.


1 June 2003 : Burncourt, Co. Tipperary
The Band will play during and after a special mass marking the re-dedication of the local church.


29 May - 2 June 2003 : Festival of the Galtees
The Band will perform at venues throughout the town as part of the annual Festival of the Galtees.


26 May 2003 : St. Fanahans Holy Well
Open air mass at St Fanahans well. (Re-located to parish church due to inclement weather)


17 March 2003 : St. Patricks Day Parades
Morning: Mitchelstown Parade. Afternoon: Ballyporeen Parade


15 March 2003 : Mass in Glenbrohane
The Band will perform at the 19:30 Saturday night mass St Patrick's Church in Glenbrohane.


7 - 9 March 2003 : Brass Band Workshop, Cobh
The Band will join bands from Skiberreen, Cobh, Limerick and Dublin in Cobh for a Brass Band Workshop under the direction of Bernard Casey of the Cork School of Music.


26 January 2003 : Annual Mass for Deceased Members
The Band will perform at the 19:30 mass for deceased and ex members in the Parish Church, Mitchelstown,
followed with refreshments and Social Evening at Tod's Bar.
