I assess the client's reading ability using testing methods appropriate to the particular client. I advise as to ability and if there is a problem, I outline a plan of work, which may then be embarked upon.

I use Phonic, Look and Say, Shared Reading methods, Word Attack Skills, different Reading Laboratories and approaches, Computer Software, Spelling programmes Anchor Reading Aids, Sound Sense books etc.

I do screen testing for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and Dyslexia.

I am also a fully qualified and Accredited (IACT) counsellor. In accordance with the client's needs, I sometimes work exclusively in the counselling area. Often I work exclusively in the Literacy area. Sometimes Literacy and Counselling issues overlap, for example, Literacy issues are often accompanied by issues such as poor self-esteem, anxiety, or bullying.
