Christmas 2005 - Gifts in Tshepisong

Thanks to the availability of funding from Soweto Connection, PWC were able to handover Christmas gifts to the orphans in their care. The event took place at their Day Care Centre in Tshepisong on Saturday, December 24th. The following photos were taken of the happy children.

Children wait anxiously for their turn to receive their christmas box.
At the end, the children proudly show off their gifts at the Day Care Centre in Tshepisong.

In May 2005 PWC announced plans to build a new Centre which would be used to look after HIV/AIDS orphans and to deliver services such as feeding, cleaning and bathing to them. The centre will also be used for counselling and education of orphans in preparation for primary school.

PWC also hope to implement training projects such as sewing, knitting, farming and arts/crafts in order to empower women by providing them with skills so that they can enter employment or create their own jobs. Ultimately the aim is for these women to be able to provide financial stability to their families.

Below is a photo of the proposed site for the Centre.

PWC need funding for the building of the Centre. The total cost is estimated at 247,000 Rand (31,000 EURO) - this includes the cost of building materials, labour, and water/electricity installation. They have already raised 167,000 Rand (21,000 EURO) and therefore need another 80,000 Rand (10,000 EURO) to finance the project.

May 2005 Report

In May 2005, after another round of funding was received from Soweto Connection, PWC's Project Director wrote the following:

"The money we received helped us buy groceries and distribute to our beneficiaries who are orphans and needy children and patients living with Aids. 47 children have benefited from this grant and 15 patients with their 39 dependents. In total 101 [people] have benefited from the program."

He also enclosed some photographs taken on the occasion ...

The photograph on the left shows one of PWC's clients, Mazibuko, and her child. Both are infected with HIV/AIDS.
