In 1972 William Kelly began his training in Ed Parker's American Kenpo in the famous High Street Kenpo Institute in Dublin, Ireland, under the instruction of Mr. Shay Paget and Mr. Barney Coleman. Over the years he has trained with various renowned instructors, for example Professor John Sepulveda

At the present he is a student of:

- Master of the Arts Mr. Paul Mills, Founder and Director AKKI

- And Professor Mr. Gino Fusciardi, European Director AKKI

Over the 27 years of his involvement in American Kenpo, Mr. Kelly had the following achievements:

- American Kenpo -4th Degree Black Belt

- 2nd place Team All-Styles Championships Ireland 1975

- Irish Kenpo Team Captain 1977

- Irish Kenpo International Team member 1978

- Outstanding Instructor of the year (Ireland) 1991

- 2nd place kumite (fighting) Irish Kenpo Championships 1991

- 2nd place IKKA European Championships, Team Kumite 1993

- 2nd place IKKA European Championships, Individual Kumite 1994

- 1st place IKKA European Championships, Individual Kumite 1996

- European Grand Champion IKKA, Individual Kumite 1996

- Trained 11 International winners
