G.A.A

KINNITTY G.A.A.

Kinnitty G.A.A. has a great heritage for the hurling game. They have won the county championship nine times in all, in 1923, 1930, 1967, 1969, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1984 and 1985. The last few years Kinnitty has not had the success as it did in the past. A new hurling pitch will help the old pitch when its finished. The old pitch is getting over worked at this time and only for the good weather it would be in a horrible state. It will improve the skill when the new pitch is finished then Kinnitty have two good pitches rather than one overworked pitch.
This year kinnitty seniors did not get off to a great start because they lost their first match. The Kinnitty Juniors A’s won the championship last year and they were promoted to Intermediate this year, but thy also lost their first match. The Junior B’s {the killer B’s} had a great win over Shamrocks and it was sweet revenge over the senior match.
Kinnitty underage looks promising at the moment and Kinnitty could have a good senior team in the future.

Future Kinnitty G.A.A.

Kinnitty G.A.A. looks promising with a new pitch being built. We entered the junior C football championship two years ago and we are in the final this year. We had some good wins in underage hurling over the last few years. Our Bord Na Scol team seems to be getting better every year. The new pitch could play a major role in the improvement of Kinnitty hurling. Hurling in Offaly needs teams like us.
