Our school has always had a strong tradition in G.A.A. and 2005 has been an
excellent year with boys and girls from First class to Sixth class competing.
The school itself ran a very successful 16 Team Indoor Hurling Competition during
the winter months. Ballyboy N.S. were the overall winners of the competition.
Every year the school takes part in Cumann na mBunscol competitions and this
year was one of our most successful with victories in both hurling and camogie.
Our Under 9 hurlers brought the first U9 Title back to the school since 2001
and the U13 camogie team regained the Division 1 title they last won in 2003.
Our boys also reached the group final of the U13 Mini-Sevens Football Tournament,
we are very proud of them especially considering it was their first year participating
in the competition. With so many young players in the school the future of G.A.A.
is looking bright for Kinnitty.
Most of the pupils who play hurling and camogie also play with our local club, Kinnitty G.A.A.
For the past two years our school has participated in the Offaly County Board skill coaching programme. A coach is sent by the County board one day a week for 10 weeks and those pupils who play camogie or hurling are coached in the skills of hurling . Each class gets one hour each.
