Kilkenny  Culture by Emily Murray

Our culture in Kilkenny,
Is almost like a tune
Being hummed to you since you were born,
To hurling you’re immune.

Before you learn your A B C’s
When “big school” seems so far.
Before your tongue gets round your name
You shout “over the bar”.

We’re not just sport fanatics
We’re well known for our cheer.
Tourists flock from miles to see
The “cats laugh” once a year.

So let me see, that’s sport and laughs
Now what more can you seek?
We also have artistic sides
Upheld in our “Arts week”.

You get a taste for everything
In our local culture.
Humour, laughter, sport and art
What more can you ask for?
