1.
Children compose poems on colours "Black" and "White"
to investigate our perception of these words and examine common
phrases in our language, e.g.rhyme "Eeny meeny, miney,
etc."
2.
Use of dictionary to find definition of "discrimination"
leading to demonstration within the class (e.g. All those
with curly hair get a shorter break!). Discuss the feelings
that result from this.
3.
Question: "Is there racism in Ireland?...If so, why?/..If
not, why not?
4.
Colonialism, ie. historical context (using colour coded map
to show "The scramble for Africa".
5.
