CENTURY STEEL BAND -

Since their
birth in 1982, this Steel Band has been touring Ireland
on a regular basis and they are as popular as ever.
Hailing from the exotic island of the West Indies (St.
Lucia, St. Vincent, Antigua ) and playing their own
particular style of Carib/Rock, Raggae and Soca music -
the Century Steel Band continue to delight Irish
audience nation-wide. |

Tango
Banda
Porteña is a unique ensemble dedicated to the musical
performance of tango. Inspired by the “Orquesta Típica”,
the classic tango orchestra of violins, bandoneons, bass
and piano. Banda Porteña is the only tango band in
Ireland and is planning to expand its activities outside
the country. Its repertoire includes traditional and
modern tango. |

Drummers

Music
The group
performs traditional songs, such as the famous “Condor
Pasa” which the musicians rearrange to create a unique
style, as well as original compositions. Fantastic
display of autochthonous Andean instruments as charangos,
quenas, zampoñas, sicuris, and tarkas. |

- Modern Swing
Holly & The
Go-Lights is a modern swing band, influenced by the
Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The
Cherry Poppin' Daddies, not to mention old favourites
such as Louis Jordan and Louis Prima. They perform a
mixture of jump jive tunes, rock 'n' roll & jazz
standards delivered with lively fun and energy. |

Masters of Soukous
As
Ireland's leading Congolese band, this 8 piece are
masters of 'soukous', the core African dance sound for
over 30 years, influencing every other African pop style
around. With spiralling guitar, hip-swinging rhythms and
sugar sweet lyrics, soukous has made more of an impact
on the Western dance floor than any other African music
and The Lace are our best purveyors of this celebrated
genre. |

BURUNDI DRUMMERS
The 18 members of the
Shika Burundi Drummers preserve their cultural identity
and celebrate their country’s magnificent musical
heritage. The Shika group, lead by master drummer Edward
Buhuru and Joseph Ntidendereza perform an spectacular
drumming and dance show, demonstrating the commanding
sound of the sacred Burundi drums, representing the
power of fertility and generation. |

BUGLE BABES -
During war time one of the only escapes was through
music and one of the main groups of that time was The
Andrews Sisters. The music has enjoyed such enduring
popularity that a group of Irish girls have formed a
group to perform the songs for todays audiences. They're
called The Bugle Babes and they dropped in to sing
"Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree". |
