Making school a happier place
- an anti-bullying policy
The aim of our anti-bullying policy is to make our school a happy place and a good experience for all pupils. The first requirement of our Code of Behaviour is that of respect and courtesy for everyone in the school community - pupils, teachers, clerical staff, visitors, canteen and cleaning personnel.
What we would like in each class.
- There will be a nice feeling in our class.
- Each girl will have a friend.
- All our belongings will be safe.
- Our classroom will be left ready for cleaning at the end of each day.
What we do not like.
- Pushing, Tripping, Bumping
- Taking or damaging property.
- Mocking; Taunting; Pointing - words or looks
- Name-calling.
- Leaving a person out.
- Unkind or insulting text messages.
- Spreading rumours.
- Making threats.
- Shouting; Roaring; Back-answering in class.
Prevention of Bullying.
Bullying thrives on secrecy. Bullies rely on Silence. The more people are aware, the easier it is to stop unkind and hurtful things happening.
All our pupils should therefore know that Loreto is a "telling school" and the following people are ready to listen and help.
- Each class has a small CAIRDEAS group, which will work with the Class Tutor to ensure that all pupils are treated with respect.
- All pupils know the Youth Leaders and may approach any one of them at any time.
- Each class has a representative on the STUDENT COUNCIL. This girl will listen to you and get help.
- All YEAR HEADS AND CLASS TUTORS will treat seriously any suspected cases of bullying.
- The Religion teachers; Guidance Counsellor & Chaplain have special training in dealing with bullying.
- The Principal, Deputy Principal or indeed any teacher whatsoever may be approached at any time.
