The picture to the left shows the well renowned Healy Pass which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the local area. This is only a few miles away from our home. There are many vantage points where you can see different aspects and scenery along the Healy Pass and the photo to the right shows some of the meandMeandering Roads toThe Healy Passering roads which permit navigation through the Healy Pass. Ensure to bring along a camera as there are very few places in Cork, or indeed all of Ireland, which command this quality of scenery. Many tourists enjoy the opportunity of navigating these meandering roads by car, foot or bicycle. En route there are many places where you can stop and relax, or even to enjoy a picnic.

GlengarriffMagannagan Farm B&B and Glengarriff are sited close to the sea and for the boating or angling enthusiast there are many opportunities for hiring a boat and also for fishing. This is an excellent way to while away a few hours whilst viewing the local coastline with its beautifully carved out bays and inlets. Glengarriff
The local town of Glengarriff (see photo) is a well renowned and traditional Irish town which offers much to do and see. Experience traditional Ireland at it's very best by visiting the many pubs and restaurants that Glengarriff has to offer. Of course visiting a traditional Irish town like Glengarriff offers much more value to the tourist if you choose to meet with some of the locals, and here you will find a very welcoming greeting in any of the local restaurants, pubs and shops. You will also be greeted with traditional Irish music and Irish dancing as well as traditional houses offering a warm atmosphere and open fires.

Martello TowerThe Martello Tower (see photo) is a popular tourist attraction close by (Ilnacullin) and is on Garnish Island. The majestic tower is positioned on the island's highest point and was constructed by the British War Office in 1805 as a defence against the feared Napoleonic invasion. The tower is still in an excellent state of preservation and the finest of views can be obtained from its battlements. This is why the the tower has become one of the key tourist attraction in the local area of Glengarriff and Magannagan Farm B&B. The viewpoints affords an unrestricted view of Bantry Bay with the large land mass of Whiddy Island viewable to the south. It was in this general area that Annan Bryce had planned to build his residence in the years prior to the Great War. Much evidence of quarrying and excavations can still be seen today.

Walled Garden of Garnish IslandAnother popular tourist attraction in the local area of Magannagan Farm B&B includes the gardens on Garnish Island. The "Casita" (see photo) is an outstanding Italian-style garden as designed by Harold Peto. This formal garden is linked by other formal features to and surrounded by a wild garden, planted by the Bryce family with beautiful trees and shrubs from all over the world. The gardens are maintained with many interesting additions to this day. The entire island of Garnish blends into the wider setting of the exceptional sea and mountain scenery around Glengarriff.
