Kilmore Quay

Kilmore Quay is a small rural fishing village situated in the south-east corner of Wexford.  It is 22km from Wexford town and just 19km from the international ferry port at Rosslare.

Kilmore Quay’s special characteristics are immediately obvious as the row of thatched cottages make a strong visual avenue as the visitor enters the village.  It has placid old world tranquillity emphasised by these traditional neat whitewashed houses.

The harbour has the added attraction of a 55 berth marina which in addition to the facilities available to the commercial fleet, make the harbour in Kilmore Quay a must for both leisure and commercial boating.  The facility of the marina has added a new dimension to boating along the south coast of the country, as it provides safe berthage and on shore facilities for all mariners.

Kilmore Quay has a reputation as an angling centre that goes back to the turn of the last century and now also offers the keen diver a fabulous location from which to explore the unique diving area from Hook head to Carnsore point which has long been known as the graveyard of a thousand ships.

Kilmore Quay is probably best known as the point of access for the Saltee Islands.  These islands, clearly visible and only 5 km from the village are Ireland’s largest bird sanctuary and a must for birdwatchers and others alike.
