The Pulse

What is the Pulse

The pulse in the throb that passes along the arteries, with each beat of the heat, and can be felt when an artery is pressed against a bone.

 

Characteristics

We check the pulse for

Rate The actual number of beats per minute.
Rhythm If has a regular or irregular beat
Strength If the pulse is normal, bounding or weak

 

Where is it Taken

The two commonest places for taking the pulse are the

Wrist Pulse Neck Pulse

When taking the pulse use two or three fingers. NEVER use your thumb, as you have an artery running up the middle of your thumb.
