Our company 'Cuideachta Na Naíonán' employs Aoife Ní Chuirrín, Sinéad Ní Mhurchadha, Máiréad Ní Chathbhuadhaigh, Gráinne Ní Chuirrín and Tríona Ní Ghealbháin from Meánscoil San Nioclás, An Rinn. In this company Aoife is our Managing Director, Sinéad is our Purchasing Manager and Gráinne is our Sales Manager. As our Financial Manager we have Máiréad and as our Production and Quality Control Manager we have Tríona. We are a team who came together to produce Play-mats for children between 0-3 years.We think that our product helps children to learn about different colours, texture and numbers, etc.
Our play-mats are made from polycotton in various colours sewn together and stuffed with wadding and there are also toys and other amusements i.e.numbers, rattlers, soft toys and pictured material. The material and the wadding worked out to be the most costly of our raw materials.
We got on very well, despite the problem we encountered with our wholesalers and the shops that were asking too much of the profit from us. At the moment our posters are being displayed in local shops as extra advertisement. As a result of this we got more orders. We spent a lot of money setting up the business, but we have sold enough of our play-mats to cover costs and even make some profit.
We are looking forward to a prosperous year in 1999.
