TO MOTHER OF FAIR LOVE
ADMISSIONS
POLICY
Mother
of Fair Love School is a Catholic School under the patronage
of the Bishop of Ossory. Students are accepted into the school
on the understanding that there is a recognition of the Catholic
ethos of the school and an acceptance of its right to provide
an education and engage in activities that reflect this ethos.
The Board of Management reserves the right to refuse entry
to an applicant if it considers that acceptance of such an
application might be detrimental to the welfare of the applicant,
to other students in the school, or the school community.
ADMISSIONS
PROCEDURE
1.
Assessment
a.
Students seeking admission to Mother of Fair Love School have
to be first assessed by a psychologist - usually Valarie Graham
of Carlow/Kilkenny Community Care Psychology Team (S.E.H.B.).
b.
Following the assessment the psychologist will discuss with
the student's parents/guardians the appropriate educational
placement for their son/daughter/guardian.
2.
Referral
a.
When a place is being sought in Mother of Fair Love School
the psychologist will, with the consent of the parents or
guardians, refer the student to Mother of Fair Love School
using the standard Referral Form.
b.
A referral for admission to Mother of Fair Love School will
normally be expected to be received by end of April for the
following school year.
c.
The Principal of Mother of Fair Love School will consider
this referral and process it if it is felt that Mother of
Fair Love School can meet the needs of the referred student.
3.
Application
a.
The referred students and his/her parents or guardian will
be invited to visit the school for interview during May/June.
b.
If applicant, together with his/her parents or guardians and
the Principal of Mother of Fair Love School are satisfied
that Mother of Fair Love School can meet the needs of the
applicant then the parents/guardians will formally sign the
school's Application Form.
c.
Principal will then seek the sanction of the DES school's
inspector to admit the applicant to Mother of Fair Love School.
d.
Principal will apply for school transport if it is required.
e.
Principal will then, all being in order, write to parents/guardians
confirming a placement in Mother of Fair Love School and indicating
the starting date and time.
