pupils attending Mother of Fair Love School.

of the arrangements and responsibility of school authorities
in providing for the safety of pupils attending school, Boards
of Management are advised to clarify the position for parents.
The Board of Management, through the teachers,
ensures that every reasonable precaution is taken to provide
for the safety of the pupil during school hours. The Board,
its teachers and other staff members are insured against any
liability arising from negligence in the provision for the
safety of the pupils during school hours. The official School

all pupils.

sports etc.) and they cannot take responsibility for the pupils
on their way to and from school, pupils arriving before the
official opening time of the school, pupils who leave the
school during school hours without the permission and knowledge
of the school authorities, or pupils entering or remaining
in the school or in the school grounds after classes end.
Senior pupils who are involved in the Work Education
Scheme or who are carrying out duties on short unaccompanied
visits outside the school with permission, or younger pupils
who are not on the school premises but are accompanied by
a staff member are regarded as being under the supervision
of the Board.
In the case of pupils who travel by School Transport,
the school authorities cannot accept any responsibility for
escorting them from the bus to the school grounds, or from
the school grounds to the bus. In practice, teachers or other
staff members may be present voluntarily on some of these
occasions.
Pupils of this school do not, as a rule, go
home at lunchtime. Any pupil whose parents have given written
authority to the school Principal to leave the school to go
home at lunchtime is not the responsibility of the Board of
its staff from 12.30pm until 1.15 p.m. when classes re-commence.
The purpose of this circular is to inform you
to the extent of the supervision of the pupils - which is
the pattern and arrangement which has been followed since
